I just realized that “pun intended” is a pun on “unintended” and I’m literally about to gouge my eyes out I’m so angry
sooooo Star Trek, to use my new favorite expression, taught to me recently by one of my top favorite people: it was a real sausage fest
Dreamed about NPH again last night.
No, it wasn’t anything sexy. His husband David was there.
Although I realize saying that doesn’t necessarily count anything out.
“We do the weird stuff!”
… my first reaction was shock and betrayal.
Then I found out it was the episode “Dream On” with NPH, which actually was one of the better episodes of Glee.
I was much happier after this discovery.
We were moaning over the fact that Neil Patrick Harris was gay but extremely good looking.
Then one of the nuns (who was sitting beside us) piped up. (I don’t actually like this one all this much.)
We explained why we were complaining and she confirmed it was “because he’s gay”.
Then I went on to say that his husband also works on How I Met Your Mother.
Then Sister said, “His partner.”
To which I replied, “Or husband.” Cause they’re married. I added internally.
NPH said so himself in an article he wrote for OUT magazine. He would like to call David his husband. Because that’s what he is. He’s more than a partner. He’s his husband.
I’m Roman Catholic but I disagree with the reason that Catholics use about gay people getting married. “The Sanctity of Marriage”. I understand that within the Catholic Church, marriage should be between a man and a woman. Fine. But what about gay people who want to be married outside the Catholic church? The sanctity of marriage does not really extend to those outside of that religion.
So what if two gays and lesbians want to get married? So what? So what if two people, who love one another get married? It doesn’t affect anyone else besides the two people committing to each other. And if they do get married, they should be able to call their significant other whatever they want.
Gays, lesbians, transgendered people, WHOEVER has the right to be happy. It’s basic human rights. Under Canadian federal law, marriage is a right. No one has the right to interfere with someone else’s basic rights.
So all in all, I might be a bad Catholic because as a Catholic I should believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. But I don’t. I realize that it’s not gonna change anytime soon within the Catholic Church, and I can appreciate that. But outside of the Church? In any case my views are not lining up with the Church’s. I’d rather be a bad Catholic than try and say what other people can and cannot do.
I ship Ted and Barney.
When they agreed to be parents together in 7.11 Rebound Girl, I flipped.
Barney: “You know what would kick ass?”
Ted: “Being gay?”
Barney: “Being gay would kick ass.”
Now I know NPH is gay in real life- which makes the whole scene even funnier- however, Ted and Barney were discussing this. Together.
Be still my beating heart.
Now when I say firsts I mean television wise. That’s right. My life doesn’t really exist outside of television.
This year I discovered wonderful things that now occupy my list of favourite things.
Honourable mention: How I Met Your Mother. Thanks to NPH, HIMYM is now one of my favourite shows. He got me to focus on that show more seriously, and recognize its greatness. It was always enjoyable for me to watch before this semester, however I didn’t really focus on it before. (This season has been so sad! I just want Barney and Robin to be happy. Together. Sort this shit out already!!!)
Also I know that people are comparing HIMYM to Friends, and they’re right. That show IS like Friends. The show has even pointed that out. In the episode where Barney is teaching Marshall to pick up girls in bars, they go to a coffee shop at the beginning of the episode. Barney says: Hanging out in a coffee shop is not as fun as hanging out in a bar. A clear reference to Friends. Plus, in the flashback where we find out that Barney used to be a hippie, he used to play the keyboard in a coffee shop as well.
So it’s no surprise that HIMYM can considered to be the new Friends. I believe that every generation should have a show that majority of people enjoy watching. Friends was that in the 90s. And HIMYM is that for the new generation. And it works. There’s no need to complain about it. I enjoy the fact that there is a new “Friends”. (So NBC, there’s no need to try and find another Friends. CBS is all over that.)
I’ve also recognized a pattern in my ABSOLUTELY FAVOURITE SHOWS OF ALL TIME. They all get cancelled (or are threatened of being cancelled).
Anyway, after that incredibly long rant. I’ve let you all know of my favourite shows, and how they all seem to never last. Or I was too late to jump on the wagon. But I just want to leave with one thought.
FRINGE AND COMMUNITY SHALL NOT DIE. THEY WILL PREVAIL. #SAVE COMMUNITY #SAVE FRINGE
I’m currently in the middle of watching How I Met Your Mother and I simply had to get this out there.
Barney just went through a break up
Barney: I’m not gonna do something crazy.
Future Ted: Don’t worry he’s gonna do something crazy.
Barney: You know, I don’t think I even like girls.
Me: Hold on a second.
Barney: Now I’m worried that you’re going to do something crazy.
Ted: I’m not gonna do something crazy.
Future Ted: Don’t worry, I’m gonna do something crazy.
Me: This can only mean one thing. Ted and Barney are going to do some ‘experimenting’ and nothing will ever be the same between them. <3
*Edit: OMG. They might actually experiment being gay with each other. Holy sh*t.
**Edit2: Never mind. False alarm. Musta been fun acting that out though. xD Love you NPH! <3
***Edit3: Ted + Barney mock relationship is making my night!
LOL That’s at least what I’m hoping for, anyway.
Once I’ve finished this episode of HIMYM, I will have completed my third day of fawning over the spectacular-ness that is Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion.
I mean seriously, I can’t stress the fact that I am head over heels in love with Dr. Horrible. I just… uuuunnnf. So, of course after seeing that 3 times I had to watch something new with NPH in it.
Nathan Fillion on the other hand. God damn that man is hot! I mean seriously. I have watched 13 of the 14 episodes of Firefly and I want a man like Captain Mal Reynolds in my life. Mal’s strong, caring, tough. And when he falls for someone, he falls hard. And Nathan brings that character to life so perfectly.
Now because I’m only 1 episode away from the end of Firefly, I don’t want to watch it. I just can’t believe that the show only ran 14 episodes. I was 10 at the time the show aired but I still kick myself for not watching it then. What the hell was Fox smoking? If only Firefly had started up now, I have no doubt that the fans on the internet would keep it alive. Hell, it’s still alive now. But alas, no new episodes.
Anyway, to fill my Captain Mal void I watched Castle tonight instead. I LOVED the character of Richard Castle last week. However, after marathoning Firefly, I feel as though Nathan Fillion is wasting his potential. I just LOVE him in Firefly.
I really want to see Serenity. But in order to do that I must watch the 14th episode of Firefly. But I don’t want to do that. I DON’T WANT TO ADMIT THAT ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I HAVE EVER SEEN ONLY HAD 14 EPISODES.
Okay I’m gonna finish watching HIMYM but I have a strange inkling that I’m gonna go to bed feeling unsatisfied. Over a lot of things.
Uh yes, just a heads up for anyone who may happen to read this. Actually I have a pretty good idea of who reads this and they already know this (Don’t you?), I recently (yesterday) discovered Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. I don’t know what the hell I was doing two years ago, but it sure as hell wasn’t living.
That thing is simply amazing, and with my new found love of Castle, I in turn have fallen in love with Nathan Fillion. SO when I found out he was in that WITH Neil Patrick Harris I jumped right in. Two feet, the whole shebang! He acts like such a tool in it, and I crack up every time. And NPH… need I say anything else? Simply adorable in that role. Frick I wish I was male, and gay for that reason. Also NPH would be single in my perfect world- until he’d be with me. LOL
But the ending! I couldn’t believe that they would end it on such a sad note. SO glad they’re making a sequel though. (Which is how I happened upon such a masterpiece. Plus I was avoiding writing my essay. Which I’m still doing. And it’s due tomorrow.)
So yes I commented like crazy on the site that I found the article for the sequel and peeps bribing me with cookies convinced me to check out Firefly. I am royally screwed my friends. ROYALLY. F*CKED.
I’m in love with Nathan Fillion as Captain Malcolm Reynolds as well. ALSO watching Dr. Horrible and Castle makes so much more sense now! I totally got references I couldn’t have gotten before. In Dr. Horrible, he’s Captain Hammer - the contrast is HILARIOUS.
Then in a recent episode of Castle I watched, Castle randomly started speaking Chinese. Beckett asked where he learned that and he said it was from a TV show he was involved in. I burst out laughing during the pilot episode of Firefly for no reason after making the connection.
Those moments are rewarding. When you clue in on obscure references (which probably aren’t really so obscure). Makes the countless wasted hours worth it.
Now back to getting this 2000 word History essay done for tomorrow morning. Dear God. I just want to be watching Firefly.
Here we go!
(And some shirtless Nathan Fillion for inspiration)
