It’s only kind of windy here

-21 with the windshield today

my car just about didn’t start

You know, sometimes Canadian commercials aren’t that bad. This is not one of them.

So apparently Channing Tatum might be in Regina, Sask.? It’s about 2 1/2 hours from where I am right now.

But as far as I can tell, it’s all rumour.

It would be so hilarious if an entire province was talking about a celebrity and he wasn’t even there.

Want to know how flirting worked back in 1884?

The newspaper I’m working at has been around since 1884. Today my editor handed me a copy of the first issues that were printed.

On the back side there was a section called “Courting in Church.” Some of the print had rubbed off over the years so I’m not quite able to make some of the words out. But what I can is fantastic.

A young gentleman happening to sit at church in a pew adjourning one in which there was a young lady for whom he conceived a sudden and violent passion, felt desirous of entering into a courtship on the spot, but the place not suiting a formal …

And there’s a few lines that’s rubbed away but from what I can make of it, this guy essentially marked a certain passage in a bible and got the person sitting between them to pass the bible to the girl.

I’m not sure exactly which passage it is but it says,

"And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but which we had from the beginning, that we love one another." She returned it with the following — second chapter of Ruth, 10th verse. "then she fell on her face and bowed herself to the ground and said unto him. Why have I found grace in thine eyes, and thou shouldst take knowledge of me, seeing me a stranger?” He returned the book pointing to the second epistle of St. John: “Having many things to write unto you, I could not with pen and ink, but I trust to come unto you and speak face to face.” From the above interview the marriage took place the following week.

So basically these two flirted with each other using bible verses and then got married the next week.

I was finally able to upload my dragonfly photo!

I was finally able to upload my dragonfly photo!

These are some photos I took today! I also took one of a dragonfly which is pretty neat but it won’t upload here with the rest of them.

If you’d like to check it out you can find it here at adventuresofjournalism.blogspot.ca/photos.html

There’s also a few more photos there.

Omg I only got four hours of sleep last night.

My mind is buzzing and I can’t comprehend anything.

I’ve done school and work on only four hours of sleep but it seriously feels way different.

Also saw the Trews last night. They were lovely as alway. The drunk people not so much.

I fear that they won’t come back to Saskatchewan because this was a crowd that barely even responded to Colin when he called out about Canada Day and being in Regina.

Like seriously people. I wonder what it’s like to be in a place with people that care about Canada Day.

It doesn’t look like much but I love how blue the sky is here.

Well, I guess it’s time to rewatch Space Milkshake

This film features Billy Boyd, Amanda Tapping, Kristin Kreuk, Robin Dunne and the voice of George Takei as Gary.

Four blue collar astronauts who are stuck together on a Sanitation Station after they bring a mysterious device aboard their ship and all life on Earth disappears. Discovering what happened to civilization is only the first of many galactic-level crises the astronauts will have to face as they are about to come under attack by a mutating rubber duck named Gary, who wants to open a portal to his evil dimension and take over the Universe.

It’s a low budget film but one of the great things is that it was filmed in Saskatchewan and myself and a classmate were able to check out the set a few months after they had completed filming. It’s also the same soundstage where Corner Gas filmed a few of their interior scenes. It was a very cool set up!

This is a song by a band in my hometown. They’re called All Mighty Voice.

The lyrics are below. Please take a listen. If you’re having a bad day, and everything is miserable and you feel completely trapped, remember: you’re free to believe.

Well I woke up, I woke up and I thought I’d fucked it up

It was too black, too black to see.

Well I was born in a place where time it was displaced

Movin’ on was just what’s best for me.

'Cause I'm free, free, free

Yeah, I’m free to believe

Movin’ on was just what had to be

When I go, still I go

Just a little further on down the road

Oh I will go back some day

You will see

Still I know, still I know

You can’t kill time, you just grow old

Growin’ too old to see the dawn

If I was you and you were me

Maybe then you’d finally see

Livin’ on’s just what’s best for me

'Cause I'm free, free, free

Yeah, I’m free to believe

Movin’ on was just what had to be

When I go, still I go

Just a little further on down the road

Oh I will go back some day

You will see

Oh I’ll be back someday

You will see

Oh I’ll be back someday

You will see
